The Fiscal Federalism, Decentralization and Resiliency-Building project brings together leading expertise on governance, leadership and organizational effectiveness to assist in institutionalizing Iraq`s 2005 Constitution and helping Iraq to become a stable and federal democracy with sustainable economic growth.
This team is working with the... Federal Government of Iraq (GOI), the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the provinces to adapt the best practices, relationships, and institutions of federal states to help transition the country from a highly centralized form of government to a federal parliamentary democracy.

IOG undertook a mission to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and met with several Senior Eexecutives in the Kurdistan Regional Government to discuss the workplan for the coming year.  Vice-President of IOG, Sylvain Dubois and Madeleine Meilleur, Senior Advisor meeting Minister of Municipality and Minister of Interior in Kurdistan Regional Government​.
Federal and Provincial governments signed today the master agreement to enhance the implementation of decentralization in Maysan and Diwaniya provinces. The Secretary of the Council of Ministers represented the federal government, Governors of Maysan and Diwaniya represented the provincial government, and The Head of the High Commission on Coordination of provinces. All parties signed the master agreement. The ceremony was attended by the DMs of the six ministries in addition to Minister of Planning and Minister of Finance, and representatives of the Canadian Embassy in Baghdad.

 The seminar focused on the government of Iraq's initiative on fiscal federalism and decentralization for managing a modern federal state. The seminar established a foundation for further IOG-sponsored discussions with the Ministry's officials.
A workshop for reviewing the Financial Management Law in Sulimanya. The participants were the Parliamentary Finance Committee, officials from the Federal Government, officials from the Governorates, and officials from the KRG. 
 The IOG updated Ms. Lisa Grande, Deputy Special Representative of UNAMI with its recent activities in Baghdad and in the provinces.
